#0 - Pretext

During these chapters I will be experimenting a lot. The way how Japan handles their honorifics and how actually human relations work. (For example, you barely ever see people who just met immediately be on the first name basis. Even childhood friends refer to each other with their last names more often than not. Using a first name is a show of absolute trust and closeness.)

I also will translate some of the honorifics, I may use "mr." or "ms." instead of -san or "lord" instead of -dono, but I really like using -sama and -chan as they are actually fairly hard to translate into english.

Japanese people use "-sama" suffix is used for someone with higher position that yourself, it is not quite "-dono", but still very respectful. "-sama" is often used about royalty and such.

"-chan" instead is used for emphasis of cuteness. Little girls usually get "-chan" -suffix added to their names just because it makes them sound cuter, same goes with pretty young ladies and younger acquaintances. It can also be used as an insult, but that is rarer.

There are other suffixes, but I try and remember to address them when they show up.

I also am thinking about having the Japanese way of writing names, aka. last name first and then the given name. It looks more natural to me, but during the first chapter I experimented a bit, so naming may be all over the place. For example I used the main characters name in "western" way (first name - last name), but I think I'll change that other way around.

This is something of a venting project for me and I hope to get better at writing via this. I love the theme and the world I've created, I am also fairly fond with the characters so I can't wait to see what the future will bring! I have tons of ideas and I have no idea how many chapters I will be writing, but I stop when I run out of steam and call it a day. That's how writing is supposed to work, yes?

See you later!
